Chianti’s fun cousin.
Romio Sangiovese is a lively, everyday red from Emilia-Romagna: less serious than Chianti, more cheeky. Bright red cherry, raspberry and a touch of earthy spice. Unoaked, fresh and ready for pizza night.
Tastes like: Ripe red cherry and cranberry, with dried herbs and a dash of pepper.
Feels like: Light-bodied and dry, with soft tannins, bright freshness and no oak.
Great with: Spaghetti bolognese, mushroom risotto, antipasto platters, roast chicken with rosemary.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Char siew rice, yakitori, soy sauce chicken.
The geeky bit: Sangiovese from the plains of Rubicone in Emilia-Romagna, where well-drained soils and cooler evenings keep the acidity and aromas. Organic.
Why we like it: Your go-to weekday red: fresh, fruity, flexible and affordable.
Serve: 14 to 16°C. Room temperature in Singapore is too warm for red wine, so give it 20 minutes in the fridge first.
Alcohol: 12.5%
