Tuscan Vermentino with style and snap.
Antinori’s Guado al Tasso estate in Bolgheri is best known for bold reds, but the Vermentino is a treat: bright, mineral and full of coastal charm. Aged only in stainless steel, so it stays pure. This is the 2020 vintage, so it has some bottle age.
Tastes like: Lemon zest, pear and white peach, with sea spray, fresh herbs and almond skin.
Feels like: Light-bodied and dry, with bright freshness and no oak.
Great with: Grilled calamari, pesto linguine, burrata, raw oysters.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Steamed fish with ginger, salt and pepper squid, har gow.
The geeky bit: Vermentino from sandy, alluvial soils near the coast at Bolgheri, close to the Tyrrhenian Sea. Picked by hand.
Why we like it: The perfect coastal white.
Serve: 8 to 10°C. Well chilled.
Alcohol: 13%
