Southern Italian sunshine, round and generous.
Primitivo is the big-hearted red grape of Puglia, in the heel of Italy, and the same grape Californians call Zinfandel. Romio’s version is ripe, dark-fruited and soft, with sweet spice and a peppery finish. An easy red for a crowd.
Tastes like: Blackberry and blueberry, with sweet spice, white pepper and a brambly note.
Feels like: Full-bodied and dry, with soft tannins and gentle acidity.
Great with: Pizza, pasta with meat sauce, grilled sausages, barbecue.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Satay, beef rendang, Korean BBQ.
The geeky bit: 100% Primitivo from Puglia, grown organically. Made by Caviro, the Italian wine co-operative founded in 1966.
Why we like it: Soft, fruity and easy to like. A safe pick for any gathering.
Serve: 16 to 18°C. Room temperature in Singapore is too warm for red wine, so give it 20 minutes in the fridge first.
Alcohol: 13.5%
