Fontanelle is Banfi’s Chardonnay from the hills around Montalcino. Bright and inviting, with citrus and stone fruit, a few Mediterranean herbs and a clean, mineral finish.
Tastes like: Lemon zest, white peach and pear, with citrus blossom and Mediterranean herbs.
Feels like: Medium-bodied and dry, with balanced freshness and a light touch of oak.
Great with: Grilled seafood, oysters, prawns, seafood pasta, goat cheese.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Sushi, cereal prawns, miso cod.
The geeky bit: Chardonnay from vineyards near Montalcino, where warm sunny days and cool evening breezes keep the fruit ripe and the wine fresh. Banfi describes its viticulture as sustainable.
Why we like it: Refreshing but with some polish. Smart enough for a proper dinner, easy enough for a Tuesday.
Serve: 10 to 12°C. Straight from the fridge is a touch too cold; give it a few minutes in the glass.
