Chianti’s country cousin.
This is Sangiovese in its most refreshing form: light, bright and food-loving. Red fruit, a little spice and that Italian zip that makes it so good with tomato-based dishes. Unpretentious and easy to love.
Tastes like: Sour cherry, dried herbs and rose petal, with an earthy note.
Feels like: Light-bodied and dry, with a bit of grip, bright freshness and no oak.
Great with: Spaghetti marinara, baked eggplant, grilled pork chops.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Char siew, yakitori, Hainanese pork chop.
The geeky bit: Sangiovese from the clay and limestone soils of Romagna, picked by hand.
Why we like it: Honest, rustic Sangiovese at an easy price.
Serve: 14 to 16°C. Room temperature in Singapore is too warm for red wine, so give it 20 minutes in the fridge first.
Alcohol: 15%
