The 2018 Gaja Ca’ Marcanda “Vistamare” Toscana IGT is a distinguished white wine from Tuscany’s Bolgheri region, crafted by the renowned Gaja family. This vintage exemplifies the harmonious blend of international and indigenous grape varieties, reflecting both the terroir of Tuscany and Gaja’s winemaking expertise.

Grape Composition

  • 40% Vermentino

  • 40% Viognier

  • 20% Fiano

Each variety undergoes separate fermentation: Vermentino in stainless steel, Viognier in 500-liter French and Austrian oak barrels, and Fiano split between stainless steel and oak. The wines are aged for six months before blending.

Tasting Notes – Nose

  • Intense floral aromas of acacia and linden flowers.

  • Herbaceous notes including fern, musk, and menthol.

Tasting Notes – Palate

  • Fresh and compact with flavors of bergamot, pear, nectarine, and white currant.

  • Transitions to a mineral and spicy character featuring flint, rosemary, and saffron.

  • Finishes with hints of mango, almond, and fig leaves.

Terroir & Inspiration

The name “Vistamare,” meaning “sea view,” reflects the vineyards’ proximity to the Tyrrhenian Sea, where the grapes benefit from sea breezes and coastal sunlight.
