Pale, dry Provence rosé from right by the sea.
This is the flagship rosé of Château Les Valentines at La Londe-les-Maures, a few kilometres from the Mediterranean. Pale salmon pink in the glass, then fresh and energetic in the mouth. This is the 2021 vintage, so it has some bottle age.
Tastes like: White peach, melon and white currant, with lime and a hint of hawthorn blossom.
Feels like: Medium-bodied and dry, with balanced freshness and no oak.
Great with: Grilled prawns, salads and Mediterranean vegetables.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Sashimi, Thai salads, Vietnamese rice paper rolls.
The geeky bit: A blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grown on schist soils at La Londe, a cooler, coastal corner of the Côtes de Provence where sea breezes keep things fresh. Certified organic.
Why we like it: This is what people mean when they say “proper Provence rosé”: pale, dry and gone before you notice.
Serve: 8 to 10°C. Well chilled.
Alcohol: 13%
