Southern Rhône, straight from the village.
Visan is one of the named villages of the Côtes du Rhône. This Grenache and Syrah blend balances ripe fruit, warm spice and a savoury, mineral edge. Approachable, with enough backbone for a proper dinner.
Tastes like: Black cherry, plum and raspberry, with pepper, garrigue herbs and subtle oak spice.
Feels like: Medium-bodied and dry, with a bit of grip, balanced freshness and a light touch of oak.
Great with: Grilled lamb chops with rosemary, ratatouille, roasted vegetables, charcuterie and aged cheeses.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Lamb satay, roast duck, black pepper beef.
The geeky bit: Grenache and Syrah from limestone-rich soils and sunny slopes in Visan. Chastel Samson describes its viticulture as sustainable.
Why we like it: Accessible, delicious and food-friendly, with just enough structure to impress.
Serve: 16 to 18°C. Room temperature in Singapore is too warm for red wine, so give it 20 minutes in the fridge first.
Alcohol: 14%
