Amarone in a magnum. Dinner just became an occasion.
Bertani has been making wine in the Valpantena valley north of Verona since 1857. This Amarone is made the traditional way: the grapes are dried after harvest to concentrate their flavour, then fermented slowly and aged in oak. Intense, generous and mouth-filling. This is the 1.5L magnum.
Tastes like: Ripe cherry and blackberry, with cinnamon, black pepper and a touch of cocoa.
Feels like: Full-bodied and dry, with a bit of grip, balanced freshness and oak in the background.
Great with: Braised beef, roast lamb, game, mushroom risotto, aged Parmigiano Reggiano.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Braised beef brisket, Peking duck, soy-braised pork belly.
The geeky bit: 80% Corvina and 20% Rondinella from the Valpantena valley, on limestone-rich hillside soils cooled by breezes from the Lessini mountains.
Why we like it: Amarone with real depth that still stays smooth and easy to love.
Serve: 16 to 18°C. Room temperature in Singapore is too warm for red wine, so give it 20 minutes in the fridge first.
Alcohol: 15.5%
