Norton’s family recipe.
Privada was originally made for the winery’s own family. It blends Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot: plush fruit from the Malbec, structure from the Cabernet and finesse from the Merlot. Aged in French oak and layered with dark fruit.
Tastes like: Blackberry and cassis, with cedar and baking spice.
Feels like: Full-bodied and dry, with firm, drying grip, balanced freshness and oak in the background.
Great with: Grilled tomahawk steak, rack of lamb, mushroom Wellington, a Sunday roast.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Black pepper beef, Korean galbi, roast goose.
The geeky bit: Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grown at altitude in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, on well-drained loamy soils.
Accolades: 93 pts Falstaff
Why we like it: Elegance, depth and drinkability in one bold bottle.
Serve: 16 to 18°C. Room temperature in Singapore is too warm for red wine, so give it 20 minutes in the fridge first. Decant 30 to 60 minutes.
Alcohol: 14.5%
