The thinking person’s Malbec.
Lote Agrelo is one of Norton’s single-vineyard Malbecs. It is deeper, darker and more savoury than your average Malbec, with refined tannins, a firm structure and a long, elegant finish. Aged in French oak.
Tastes like: Black cherry and cedar, with graphite, mocha and dried herbs.
Feels like: Full-bodied and dry, with firm, drying grip, balanced freshness and oak in the background.
Great with: Beef Wellington, grilled lamb chops, portobello burgers. A fancy dinner with very little talking.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Black pepper beef, Peking duck, wagyu yakiniku.
The geeky bit: Malbec from Agrelo, in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza: a cooler site with deep alluvial soils.
Accolades: 94 pts Wine Advocate
Why we like it: Bold, but with brains.
Serve: 16 to 18°C. Room temperature in Singapore is too warm for red wine, so give it 20 minutes in the fridge first. Decant 30 to 60 minutes.
Alcohol: 15%
