Brunello’s younger, livelier sibling.
Rosso di Montalcino is made from the same grape and the same hills as Brunello, but released younger and fresher. Banfi’s PAM shows red cherry fruit, violets and a balanced structure.
Tastes like: Red cherry, rose and thyme, with white pepper and light oak.
Feels like: Medium-bodied and dry, with a bit of grip, bright freshness and a light touch of oak.
Great with: Roast chicken, caprese salad, salumi, grilled vegetables.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Roast duck, soy sauce chicken, claypot rice.
The geeky bit: Sangiovese from Banfi’s estate vineyards in Montalcino, on clay and limestone soils.
Accolades: 92 pts Vinous
Why we like it: Accessible but classy. Brunello charm without the wait.
Serve: 16 to 18°C. Room temperature in Singapore is too warm for red wine, so give it 20 minutes in the fridge first.
Alcohol: 15.5%
