Old Tuscan trick, plush modern red.
Stilnovo revives the old Governo method, where part-dried grapes are added to the wine for extra body. The result is a full, velvety Sangiovese with intense fruit and balanced spice.
Tastes like: Ripe cherry and blackcurrant, with mocha, dried fig and vanilla.
Feels like: Full-bodied and dry, with a bit of grip, gentle acidity and oak in the background.
Great with: BBQ ribs, baked pasta, braised meats, blue cheese.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Braised pork belly, char siew, Korean BBQ.
The geeky bit: Sangiovese from Tuscany. Governo all’uso Toscano means some of the grapes are dried before use, which adds richness and a rounder feel.
Accolades: 91 pts Wine Enthusiast
Why we like it: Rich, plush and a bit different. Tuscan tradition with modern polish.
Serve: 16 to 18°C. Room temperature in Singapore is too warm for red wine, so give it 20 minutes in the fridge first.
Alcohol: 13.5%
