A white wine that speaks like a red.
San Sisto is a Riserva that shows how serious Verdicchio can be. Deep, structured and mineral, with citrus peel, toasted almond and stone on the nose.
Tastes like: Lemon zest and white peach, with almond, sage and flint.
Feels like: Full-bodied and dry, with balanced freshness and oak in the background.
Great with: Seafood risotto, roast chicken, truffle pecorino, shellfish.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Salted egg prawns, miso cod, steamed crab.
The geeky bit: Verdicchio from an estate vineyard near Jesi, on sandy clay and marine sediment. Long ageing on the lees adds weight and structure.
Why we like it: Deep and hard to forget.
Serve: 10 to 12°C. Straight from the fridge is a touch too cold; give it a few minutes in the glass.
Alcohol: 12.5%
