Banfi’s modern Tuscan red: dark, smooth and firm.
Belnero is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Merlot from Banfi’s estate at Montalcino, aged in French oak. Deep in colour, with dark fruit, sweet spice and a smooth, firm structure.
Tastes like: Dark cherry and plum, then vanilla, coffee and tobacco.
Feels like: Full-bodied and dry, with firm, drying grip, balanced freshness and oak in the background.
Great with: Grilled steak, lamb chops, braised short rib, aged cheeses.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Black pepper beef, Korean galbi, braised beef short rib.
The geeky bit: From estate vineyards on the southern slopes of Montalcino. Aged in French oak.
Why we like it: Brunello breeding with a softer, more international polish.
Serve: 16 to 18°C. Room temperature in Singapore is too warm for red wine, so give it 20 minutes in the fridge first. Decant 30 to 60 minutes.
Alcohol: 14%
