Chianti Classico, clean and honest.
Al Limite means “at the edge”. San Leonino sits in Castellina in Chianti, in the heart of the Classico zone, and this is its 100% Sangiovese: precise, vibrant and full of clear red fruit, with a firm, savoury structure. This is the 3L double magnum, equal to four bottles.
Tastes like: Sour cherry and redcurrant, with dried herbs, leather and cedar.
Feels like: Medium-bodied and dry, with a bit of grip, bright freshness and a light touch of oak.
Great with: Grilled lamb, pappardelle with wild boar ragù, pecorino, eggplant parmigiana.
Singapore and Asian favourites: Roast duck, char siew, beef hor fun.
The geeky bit: Sangiovese from Castellina in Chianti, grown at 350 to 400 metres on galestro, the crumbly rock of the Classico hills. Hand-harvested and aged in large Slavonian oak casks.
Why we like it: Everything we love about Chianti Classico.
Serve: 16 to 18°C. Room temperature in Singapore is too warm for red wine, so give it 20 minutes in the fridge first.
Alcohol: 14%
