Wine is one of the most fascinating and complex beverages in the world, and exploring it can be an incredibly rewarding experience. However, to truly appreciate and understand the art and science of wine, you need to invest in your education. That’s where the WSET Level 3 in Wines comes in.

Earning this advanced certification isn’t easy, but we arm you for success. We teach our students the WSET way of thinking. You’ll not only know the material, you’ll understand what they are looking for so you can feel confident on test day.

The WSET Level 3 Award provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the world of wines, from grape growing to winemaking. This course is designed to take students on a tour of the regions where they can taste great wines.

What you’ll learn

Unit 1
– The key factors in the production of wine: location, grape growing, winemaking, maturation and bottling
– How these key factors influence the key characteristics of the principal
– still wines of the world
– sparkling wines of the world
– fortified wines of the world
– How to apply your understanding to explain wine style and quality
Unit 2
– How to taste wines, describe their characteristics and evaluate their quality, using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)

CLASS FORMAT

– 32.5 hours of classroom with a WSET course provider (includes 2.5-hour examination)
– 84 hours of self study time required (minimum)
Exams consist of 2 units
Unit 1 is assessed by a theory exam: closed-book exam with combinations of multiple questions and short-written answer question (2 hours)

Unit 2 is assessed by two blind tasting of two wines (30mins)

FAQ

Who is the educator?

  1. Vin Geek is an official satellite venue under Wine With Stella and educator is Stella Kim who is a certified educator for WSET Level 1-3.

Is Vin Geek eligible for an SSG grant from the government?

  1. We currently do not subsidise any government aid.

What are the entry requirements?

  1. Level 1: No entry requirements for this qualification
  2. Level 2: No entry requirements but basic wine knowledge that is equivalent of Level 1 would be highly recomended
  3. Level 3: WSET Level 2 Award in Wines certificate or demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge

Collection of Study Packs?

Level 1

Course materials will be provided on the day of the course.

Level 2 and 3

Collection of the materials is available before the course commences at Vin Geek outlet (Pacific Plaza). It is highly recommended to collect your study material in advance for pre-reading.

How do I get to Vin Geek?

If I miss a class, can I make it up?

No, we do not offer make-up classes.

Can I postpone my exam?

You have the possibility to postpone your exam free of charge up to 3 weeks before the date. After this time, a fee is charged by the WSET for postponing the exam.

When are we getting our result?

Wine With Stella will inform each participant of their results via email once we have received the gradelist from WSET Global.

Your certificates and badge will arrive at a later date, and you will be advised of the collection details once we have received them. 

Gradelist is issued based on the following timeline:

Level 1: 10 weeks from the assessment date

Level 2: 10 weeks from the assessment date

Level 3: 12 weeks from the assessment date

How do I receive my certificate and pin?

Collection can be made at Vin Geek.

Candidates will have to bear admin & postage charges of $15 SGD if they request their certificates and pins to be mailed to them via registered post.

What if I failed the exam?

Don’t worry, you can retake your exam with a re-sit fee.
