Vintage: 2012
Producer: René Muré
The Muré family have been making wine in the southerly Rouffach region since the end of the Thirty Years War in 1648; René is the eleventh generation in charge, and farms both the original holdings and the Clos St Landelin, a thirteen-hectare plot within the Grand Cru Vorbourg bought by his grandfather in 1935. Sheltered by the highest peaks of the Vosges mountains, the vineyards in the Rouffach region receive an exceptional amount of sunshine. The average age of these Gewurztraminer vines is thirty years.
Tasting Notes: Gentle pear fruit has a touch of herbal tisane. The same gentle purity of fruit is amplified on the streamlined, dry palate where freshness and ripeness seem to flow from a deep well of pear and lemon. Taut and balanced, this is utterly moreish and perfectly dry.
