Vintage: 2008
Producer: René Muré
The Muré family have been making wine in the southerly Rouffach region since the end of the Thirty Years War in 1648; René is the eleventh generation in charge, and farms both the original holdings and the Clos St Landelin, a thirteen-hectare plot within the Grand Cru Vorbourg bought by his grandfather in 1935. Today his children Véronique and Thomas are in charge of the estate. Certified organic winemakers since 1999, the estate now works 22 hectares biodynamically, with a special focus on the soils. Newer vines have been planted at high density (almost 10,000 per hectare) to encourage deeper roots. Hand-picking, soft pressing of full grapes, and natural yeasts help to keep the full expression of the terroir in the wines.
Tasting Notes: A fruity nose with hints of peach, then fresh and well-balanced on the palate with a round texture lifted by notes of citrus fruit.
