Vintage: 2020
Producer: Tenuta San Guido
Tenuta San Guido is one of the rare examples of a domain whose name is less famous than that of its great wine, Sassicaia. It must be said that the latter has played a major role in the history and recognition of the Bolgheri vineyard, initiating the true revolution of ? Super Tuscan ? wines.
Tasting Notes: Sassicaia 2020 is one of the highest rated Sassicaia vintages in history (and they go back to 1968!). The blend is a fairly typical 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. As critic James Button at Decanter notes, this beauty will reward cellaring until the 2050s (at least). This is also a great candidate for long-term ‘store of value’ status. Sassicaia is undoubtedly one of the world’s greatest (and strongest) fine wine brands today.
