Tasting Notes: This Montepulciano was grown on vines up to 40 years old. The fruit was vinified in stainless steel and the wine spent 16 months in a mix of 2,50o-liter Slavonian oak casks and new and used barriques. About 5,000 cases were made. It’s youthful-looking, a shiny ruby red with a clear rim, and fragrant of ripe cherry, macerated strawberry, cedarwood, and juniper berry. The palate continues the theme, offering ripe fruits and a sueded tannic texture. The finish is the most interesting aspect of the wine, an interplay of earthy sous bois and tart juicy fruit.
