Vintage: 2013
Producer: Domaine Didier Dagueneau
Didier Dagueneau is the fourth generation of winemakers in the small village of St. Andelain in Loire valley. He created a cult following for his Sauvignon Blanc in the Pouilly-Fume appellation. In 2008, his children took over the 11 hectares vineyard. His son Benjamin oversees the winemaking and his daughter Charlotte takes care of the running of the business. The Dagueneau family makes limited quantities of wine from their small plots of land, with a reputation of making some of the best Sauvignon Blanc in the world.
The domaine Jardins de Babylone is a small (3-hectare) vineyard located on the hillside of the village of Aubertin. It is owned by the Dagueneau family, who also own property in Pouilly-Fume and Sancerre. Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau, who succeeded his father Didier Dagueneau, is now in charge. The domaine produces wines of remarkable finesse, extremely aromatic and with a low alcohol content. Les Jardins de Babylone is an up-and-coming domain in this appellation.
Tasting Notes: Didier Dagueneau Les Jardins de Babylone 2013 is a complex white wine with aromas of exotic fruits, citrus notes and hints of fresh grass. On the palate it is deep, delicate and fresh. A wine with an invigorating texture, bright acidity and a deliciously mineral finish.
