In the late 1970s, John and Harry Mariani, just over a year after the founding of Banfi in Montalcino, acquired the historic Piedmontese winery Bruzzone. The holdings extend between the towns of Novi Ligure and Acqui, over an area of 124 acres, of which 114 are under vine. Banfi Piemonte, since its inception, has undergone a constant growth, interspersing an inherent typicity with technological innovation, and a distinct vocation for quality sparkling wines. The strong link to the region is evident in the selection of wines proposed by Banfi Piemonte, all expressions of principal indigenous varietals and Metodo Classico bottle fermented sparkling wines, crowning efforts celebrating the most prestigious denominations of southern Piedmont. The winery, completely restored and renovated in recent years, was conceived to preserve, while at the same time exalting, the unique character of our grapes. In addition to the production of Charmat method sparkling wines, the cellars extend to an area dedicated to the production of Metodo Classico, where wine fermenting in the bottle rest on traditional, centuries-old pupitres.

InJune, there was repeated rain with mild temperatures, which allowed fora surprising vegetative-productive balance of the vineyards. During thefollowing summer months, the warm temperatures and the sunnyweather allowed for perfect veraison and ripening of the grapes. Theharvest took place earlier than usual. The grapes were in perfectcondition and, thanks to the good temperature ranges and the absence ofrain, presented excellent aromatic profiles and good acidity.A wine with pale pink nuances; the typical notes of red fruits ofSangiovese and the citrus and mediterranean scents of Vermentino standout on the nose. Fresh, with a good persistence.Delicious as an aperitif, it is perfect to be paired with light dishes of bothmeat and fish.
